Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have audio equipment?

You betcha. I’ve got a top of the line PA system that can operate from batteries - so no power supply needed. And yes, your musicians or ipod can piggyback off my system to play the music for the ceremony.

Do you take care of all the paperwork?

Yes. That’s quite literally my job. We’ll meet in person at least 1 month before your wedding date to get all of this sorted.

What I.D. do I need to complete the paperwork?

To complete the Notice of Intended Marriage form, I’ll need to see 2 forms of I.D.
Your drivers licence and passport are perfect.

What do I need to do to change my name?

If you’re taking your partner’s name, you’ll need a marriage certificate issued by the department of Births Deaths & Marriages. You can then take this to VicRoads, your bank etc to have your name officially changed.
I can order this certificate for you when I register your marriage - meaning you won’t need to go through the rigmarole of heading in with 100 points of ID to order one.
Your certificate will arrive in the mail a few weeks after your wedding.

Do you just use the same ceremony for every couple?

Oh God no! That’d be so dull for me - and for you.
I meet with every couple to get to know them properly, and ask them to complete a questionnaire about their relationship. I’ll then spend at least a whole day writing a script for a ceremony that suits them, their story and the style of ceremony that they want.

I need help with my vows!

I gotcha Mr Frodo. I can’t write them for you, but I can carry you. I can help by providing some guidance on structure & content, show you some examples of brilliantly written vows, and help you refine and edit them to make sure you’re both on the same page.

What’s included in your service?

Literally everything you need to ensure your ceremony goes off without a hitch.
This includes:
- An initial meeting in-person to make sure I’m your guy, and complete the official paperwork,
- Any follow up meeting we might need, either in person or virtually,
- All paperwork completed and lodged by me.
- A legal certificate ordered from BDM (for name changes/legal paperwork etc). This will save you $60 and a day of running around.
- Unlimited contact, support and advice in the lead up to your wedding day
- A top quality marriage ceremony that your friends and family will talk about forever,
- Use of my PA system and microphone

Can you M.C. our reception?

Yes, absolutely. I offer this as an additional service.
The benefit of having your celebrant M.C. is that your guests will already know who I am before the reception starts, so might be more inclined to listen when I grab the mic.
Additionally - your attention seeking, funny mate that you were going to ask to M.C. can take the night off, enjoy a few bubbles and focus on heckling me.

Would you dress as Elvis for our wedding?

Nothing on this earth could make me happier. I’ll gladly don my blue suede shoes to tell the story of your burning love til your friends and family are all shook up.

How much do you charge?

Good question. Celebrant prices in Australia range from a few hundred to $5000 or more.

I’m confident that my service is top notch. In saying that, my price is nowhere near the top of that scale.

My standard price is $1500. This includes all the bells and whistles.
If your wedding is outside the greater Melbourne/Geelong area, there might be a small travel charge.
