Why this guy?

You’re probably reading this because you’re about to get married, if so - congratulations, if not - this is not the website you’re looking for.

My name is Adam Kittelty and I’m a full-time marriage celebrant working in and around Melbourne.

Officially, your celebrant’s job is to make sure everyone says the right words and signs the right forms to ensure your marriage is legal. That’s the easy bit.

Unofficially, my job is to make your ceremony the highlight of your wedding day. Personally, I think this is also the easy bit.

Marriage ceremonies are solemn, sincere and legally binding occasions. But that doesn’t mean they can’t also be a bit of fun.

No doubt you’ll be nervous, but I’ll help you shake off the nerves and make sure you enjoy yourself and look back on the ceremony as the highlight of your day - after all, this is the bit we’re all there for - without the ceremony, it’s just an expensive party.

Storyteller

The most important part of a ceremony is telling the story of the (soon to be) married couple. Writing is my second favourite thing in the world (see below for #1), so crafting the perfect story of you and your partner is something I take great pride in.

My aim is to tell your story in a way that reminds you both why you’re standing there, gives you both some welcome suprises, and makes every single one of your guests feel like they’ve been there for the important moments in your relationship. Like a film starring Rachel McAdams or Hugh Grant, there’ll be a love story, laughs and more than a few tears.

Director

When you’re standing in front of your friends and family professing your love to your partner, you shouldn’t have to worry if things are running to schedule, if the music comes on at the right time, or if Uncle Scotty is getting in the photographer’s way, taking photos with his iPad.

Leave it to me to take care of everything from secret signals to the musicians to crowd control. Trust that I’ll keep the crowd entertained if the bride (or groom) is fashionably late, be right there when you need me, and magically disappear when necessary, so your photographer can get the best shots.

Entertainer

My number one favourite thing on this Earth is to entertain a crowd of people, and I can confidently say that I’m very good at it.

What does this mean for you? You’ll have a celebrant who will hold your guests’ attention for the entire ceremony. Not only that, I will focus on making you the centre of attention, as you should be.
You probably don’t want your celebrant to act like they’re reading prepared statements at a press conference. On the other hand, you also don’t want them to treat your wedding like their own one-person show.
I’ll be the one who makes everyone feel welcome, relaxed and involved while keeping the attention on the two main characters.

I believe a good celebrant makes themself the star of the show by ensuring that the attention is never on them, but is focused on the married couple.
